Birthdays of Loved Ones Passed

Since my quiche are still in the oven, I have to keep myself awake- so I figured I would post about all the birthdays & other memory days we have this week.
Nana's birthday was last Wednesday. The family celebrated as any good Portuguese family would, they ordered her favorite cake and had it for BREAKFAST!! How's that for a tradition!

Last Thursday was Phil's birhtday. And tomorrow Sophie will be turning 10!!! They celebrated Phil's birthday with his favorite, carrot cake.

So tomorrow will be a good day- Soph's birthday and Jami's communion. But, I will also be thinking of sweet Vanessa who died 24 years ago tomorrow. She was killed by the school bus crossing the road to get home after it let us off. I wish I still had her picture, she was so beautiful. I used to have it on my mirror when I was younger, I probably still do have it in a box somewhere. In looking for her picture, I found this website set up by her parents in order to fight our Governor who was trying to revoke the mandatory requirement of bus monitors on every elementary bus that was passed the year after Vanessa's death (and the death of 2 others in that same year). http://members.cox.net/fisst/ It was hard to find what the verdict of that vote was, but I think I just read here that he did not cut the funding for the monitors- whew! Although, it did not help that poor little girl who just died this week - tragic.

My question it you is this- do you celebrate the birthdays of loved ones who have passed? If so, how?
